Chiropractor and Graston Technique

I went to a chiropractor for the first time about a month ago. My left shoulder has been hurting really bad. Just picking up something started to take it's toll. So my boss told me about her chiropractor and how great he was. She set me up with an appointment and was nice enought to go with me. I'm a big chicken when it comes to new stuff.

I learned a lot about muscles and scar tissue. That's when I learned about scar tissue and how it can hurt you and cause pain. In time, we can have a build up of this fibrous scar tissue, particularly in the muscles, tendons and ligaments that get a lot of use. This can lead to pain and dysfunction because this replacement tissue lacks the strength and flexibility of healthy tissue (in some areas it may even mat down and entrap a nerve).

This remarkable procedure detect and treat areas of “scar tissue” or adhesions in muscles, tendons and ligaments that can reduce our range of motion and cause pain. In the healing process, your body attempts to repair those areas by creating “scar tissue,” much like the scar that forms on the skin when you have scraped or banged your knee.

My chiropractor used the Graston Technique on me.
Which is basically scraping metal rods over problem areas and really breaking up scar tissue. I hurts a little but it's a good hurt. They say it can leaves bruises, but so far all I had was a little bit of redness. It hurts to touch where he did it. My shoulder feels so much better.

These pictures I found on line. I just want to show you how it's done.

Here are some after pictures. Like I said I show no signs of bruises... yet.
